Welcome back to the Friday Forecast! Now that Christmas and New Years are over, there’s not much more to look forward to during the rest of the winter months. Not to mention, the bank account is taking a hit from both. Are you pondering what you can do to get out of the house this winter that won’t break the bank? Below is a list of 5 FREE things you can do in Winnipeg this winter..

  1. Arctic Glacier Winter Park – A wonderful winter destination right in the middle of the city! Arctic Glacier Winter Park is the place for winter activities such as skiing, tobogganing and snowboarding.  Wagon rides and other activities are available as well!

2.  Skate down the Assiniboine River – Also known as the river trail, this is one of the longest skating routes in Canada! It is a great way to get your skate on! You can even walk or ski down the trail as well.

Where: Access docks at The Forks, Corydon, Norwood, St.Boniface, The Exchange District, and near then Legislature Building.

3.  Learn How to Brew a Beer – If you are a beer drinker, you will love this! If not, you will still enjoy it!  Half Pints Brewing Company offers a behind the scenes look at how it cooks up its best beer.

4.  Airforce Heritage Park Museum – For you history buffs! You can peruse 13 different aircrafts tracing the story of military flight around Canada. Aircraft on displace range from Second World War fighter planes to modern day CF-5 fighters.

5. Visit Winnipeg’s Oldest Train Station – Winnipeg’s Union Station was built in 1911, and was designed by Warren and Wetmore, the masterminds behind New York’s Grand Central Station.  Be mesmerized by the giant dome ceiling and amazing architecture.
